12 - ½ tsp smoked paprika
13 - Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

→ Topping

14 - 1.8 oz cheddar cheese, grated
15 - 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

# Cooking Steps:

01 - Preheat the oven to 400°F. Grease a 2-quart baking dish.
02 - Boil pasta in salted water until just al dente. Drain and set aside.
03 - Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add smoked sausage and cook 3–4 minutes until lightly browned. Remove and set aside.
04 - In the same skillet, sauté onion and bell pepper for 3–4 minutes until softened. Add garlic and cook for 1 more minute.

06 - Reduce heat and add cheddar and Parmesan cheeses, stirring until melted. Stir in Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Remove from heat.
07 - In a large bowl, mix cooked pasta, sausage, sautéed vegetables, and cheese sauce until evenly combined.
08 - Transfer mixture to the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle with remaining grated cheddar cheese.
09 - Bake for 20–25 minutes until the top is golden and bubbling.
10 - Allow to rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • Creamy, cheesy comfort food with rich smoky flavor
  • Quick to prepare and makes excellent leftovers
02 -
  • This dish contains milk, wheat, and mustard allergens
  • Check sausage labels as they may contain soy or other allergens
03 -
  • Let the bake rest for a few minutes before serving for easier slicing
  • Use freshly grated cheese for the smoothest sauce—pre-shredded cheese doesn’t melt as well
