08 - Pinch of salt
09 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
10 - 2 tablespoons unsweetened applesauce

# Cooking Steps:
01 - Set the oven to 350°F and allow it to heat fully.
02 - Wash and core each apple, creating a hollow center while keeping the base intact.
03 - In a medium bowl, combine rolled oats, chopped nuts, almond or whole wheat flour, brown or coconut sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
04 - Stir melted butter and applesauce into the dry mixture until evenly moistened.
05 - Fold in raisins or dried cranberries if desired.
06 - Place apples upright in a baking dish and fill each cavity generously with the oat-nut mixture.
07 - Pour 2 to 3 tablespoons of water into the bottom of the dish to prevent sticking, then cover loosely with foil.
08 - Bake covered for 20 minutes.
09 - Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until apples are tender and topping is golden.
